🚀 Big Changes Coming to Australian Employer Sponsored Visas in 2024! 🚀
(UPDATED 28TH MAY 2024)
Attention all skilled workers and employers!
The Australian government is rolling out significant updates to the work visa system that may impact the 482 Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa and the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa.
Here’s what you need to know:
🆕 New "Skills in Demand" Visa:Starting late 2024, the 482 visa may transition to the new "Skills in Demand" visa, designed to streamline the process for skilled workers entering Australia. This visa is expected to feature a three-tier system to match workers with critical economic sectors:1. Specialist Skills Pathway: For highly specialized professionals with high salary thresholds.2. Core Skills Pathway: For a broad range of skilled professionals.3. Essential Skills Pathway: For occupations facing significant shortages. 📉 Reduced Work Experience Requirement:From November 2024, the work experience requirement for the 482 visa will decrease from two years to one year, easing the qualification process for international graduates and skilled workers.
🔄 Pathway to Permanent Residency:All pathways under the new Skills in Demand visa may lead to potential permanent residency through the 186 visa, simplifying the transition for skilled workers in Australia (Home Affairs).
📋 Changes to Labour Market Testing (LMT):LMT requirements may also improve. The necessity to use Workforce Australia as an advertising platform may be removed, and job advertisement validity may extend from 4 to 6 months.
📈 Increase in Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT):From July 1, 2024, the TSMIT will increase from $70,000 to $73,150. New nomination applications must meet the new TSMIT or the annual market salary rate, whichever is higher. This change aligns with commitments made at the Jobs and Skills Summit in September 2022. Existing visa holders and nominations lodged before July 1, 2024, will not be affected.
🌟 What This Means for You:Current 482 visa holders retain their visa validity until expiration. Future renewals may fall under the new system.Employers may benefit from less stringent LMT requirements, making it easier to sponsor skilled workers. 💼 Get Expert Guidance:Navigating these changes can be complex.
